When I considered starting a personal styling service in 2017, there wasn’t much conversation around sustainability.

I thought - maybe I should call myself the anti-stylist, because I don’t believe in shopping hauls and contantly updating one’s clothes.

But... ideas around sustainable style, shopping one’s wardrobe and not buying new have become more popular; and I’ve had a slow and steady flow of like-minded clients ever since. People appreciate my ability to find creative ways of using those unworn things.

I decided to name my business after that old fashioned virtue of Prudence. Meaning, to make deliberate and wise choices when it comes to buying clothes. The past three decades of fast fashion and online shopping has spoiled us for choice and really, I think that is where a lot of problems have arisen. It’s confusing. Not to mention wasteful!

My philosophy is to maintain a smaller wardrobe of good pieces that I’ve thought about, can wear in different ways and add a dash of unique something if I’m in the mood for that. People always compliment me on my “new outfits” when the basis of my wardrobe has remained stable for the past 10 years.
